I’m chatting with singer/songwriter and long-time activist Elaine Romanelli about easy ways to make activism a part of your everyday life. No, you don’t have to march on Washington, if that’s not your thing! Elaine explains how activism is like a pedicure. You can get by and just cut your nails, or you can go for the full spa treatment and totally nourish yourself. Take a listen to find out what she means!

As an entrepreneur herself, Elaine talks about how important it is to outsource as much as you can in both your business and your daily life. She discusses self-care and “other-care”—not where we’re taking care of others, but rather where we have other people take care of us. Imagine that!

We discuss how exhausted everyone is from the constant barrage of bad news, where this thing doesn’t get reported because it’s not as “bad” as that thing. And we chat about developing a system of replenishment, in contrast to the usual escapism that ends up depleting us even more.

Elaine wants organizations, politicians, and us to stop thinking of activism as an emergency situation because it’s something we have to be in for the long haul. Thus the focus of this episode: Finding easy ways to build activism into your daily life… in a way that fills you up rather than dragging you down.
